Pastor David Turner

I have been Senior Pastor of Little Cypress Baptist Church since 1997. I have been married to my dear wife, Elizabeth, for over 37 years. We have two wonderful adult children, Daniel and Deborah, and four delightful grandchildren. I have a Bachelor of Arts from Houston Baptist University, and a Masters of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Some of my hobbies and interest include motorcycling, skiing, fishing and hunting. I also enjoy reading works by Henry Blackaby, James Dobson, and John McArthur among others. Most importantly I love Jesus. I want to be obedient to Him and serve Him wherever He has me.

I believe that God equips a servant to accomplish the task He calls him to. I have found this to be true in every place I have served. I believe that the Word of God is infallible, inspired by God, and without error. I am serving in a church that is uniquely a part of the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention, and I fully concur with the doctrinal views of the Southern Baptist Convention. Our goal as a church is to accomplish our generations part of the Great Commission while living out the Great Commandment to love God and one another.

I believe that a Minister of the Gospel is supposed to be doing whatever the Master tells him to do, wherever the Master tells him to do it. My goal is to obey the Lord’s leading to serve Him wherever, whenever He gives me the opportunity. I believe that Ministers of the Gospel should be able to communicate and accomplish vision and action. The message of the Gospel is that God can forgive us and change us. We can forgive others and work within His power to see His work accomplished all around us every day. All of this depends on the kind of love that helps without enabling, holds accountable without condemning, and is willing to do what is right even if no one else will.

Music Minsiter & Administrator

I have been serving Little Cypress Baptist Church since June 2011, alongside Sarah, my beautiful wife. Together we have four boys (Jubal, Charley, Micah, and Jackson). I grew up in two small towns in southeast Missouri, and graduated from Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas with a degree in church music. Prior to Little Cypress, I served two churches in full-time music ministry, and am now delighted to be in Orange, Texas. In my free time, I like to read, pursue musical interests, work in the family garden, and barbecue just about anything.

God has a marvelous plan for Orange, and I am excited to see how He will use Little Cypress Baptist to fulfill His kingdom work here and to the ends of the earth.

Youth Minister

My name is Zachary Belknap, but you can call me Zach, or some people call me Captain Awesome. I am 24 years old and am in my third year of Student Ministry. Before this, I was in a ministry that allowed me to tour the country and perform elementary school assemblies and gospel concerts. I am currently taking classes from Liberty University working on a degree in Biblical Studies. I love football, music, and am an avid movie watcher. I like super heroes and am a huge fan of Superman. I am very involved in the arts. Theater is a passion of mine, and I hope to one day have my own theater in which to present Christ. The reason I live is to serve my Lord and King Jesus Christ who saved me from a life of Sin and Death. I love worshiping Him with my guitar and telling people about Him. I have a heart for students and love to see them “get it”. I am not married but hopefully someday God will bless me with a wife. For now I am living for Him and moving wherever He leads me until the day I stand before Him complete and he says “Well done good and faithful servant”. I cannot wait.
